Hi I'm Lori
I excel at discovering the wild in any location to create expressive and natural images of you and your pet
What I love most about my work
Spending time with awesome people
Photographing animals from Antarctica to Annapolis
Creating images that leave a lasting impact
Connecting with nature, people and animals
Helping people decorate their homes with artwork that make them smile
Sharing my knowledge and creative talents with people
I've always been unconventional...
…turning what I love to do into jobs and businesses, long before being a ‘travel blogger’ or ‘digital nomad’ was trendy.
I’ve had some of the world’s coolest jobs:
dolphin trainer
marine science educator
whale watching guide
museum exhibit designer
non-profit founder
expedition guide and leader...the list goes on
Pivot to pet photography
My career as a pet photographer was born in wild places like Antarctica, Alaska, and the Russian Far East, working alongside some of the best nature and wildlife photographers in the world.
With their friendship and generous mentoring, I discovered the joy and art of storytelling through images, leading to some really exciting recognition in international photo competitions.
The pivot to pet photography came unexpectedly in 2009 when my friend Jess suggested bringing my wildlife perspective to capturing beloved pets. The idea instantly connected me to the formal portrait of Sandy, my childhood dog, that my dad still carries in his wallet. It’s worn and faded and one of my father’s most prized possessions. I instantly knew this was the right path for me: to create these priceless artifacts for others.
When I’m not photographing your pets, you’ll find me guiding in Antarctica (every year from January to March), speaking about photography, conservation, or ecology (my coolest gig right now is teaching tourists about Chesapeake Bay blue crabs and then sharing a crab feast together!), and connecting with fellow adventurers in my Facebook groups: The Antarctic Experience and Antarctica Travel – from Bucket List to Booked (come join in if you’re keen).
Core Values: education and conservation
Because education and conservation are core values for me, I make time to serve as vice-chair of the Antarctic Ambassadorship Committee at IAATO, and partner in a small business supplying nature field guides to polar travelers.
But of course, as often as possible you’ll find me at home with my pups Kira and Indy, spending time together walking in the woods or sitting in the backyard watching the ospreys and boats go by.
I believe a photo can help us connect, care, and even take action
